I recently had the pleasure of watching a team, that one of my friends coaches, compete in their conference tournament championship game. It was a back and forth game in a hostile environment but they came out on top in one of the best games I've ever seen in person.
Along with my congratulations I texted my friend how much fun it was to watch his team compete, how tough-minded they were and how they really played for each other. His response was not what I was expecting but something that I won't soon forget either.
His response:
"We have great believers."
I sat there and re-read the text and was in awe at how powerful those four words were. Sure, they had worked hard to prepare for the opportunity and had undeniably risen to the occasion to perform at a championship level but more important than all of that...before all of that...they BELIEVED.
They believed they could do it. They believed in how they were going to do it. They believed in themselves. And above all, they believed in each other.
