Welcome to the first Mid-Week Motivation!! Every week I will take a quote, search for meaning beyond it's surface and find how we can apply it's lessons to our lives. And I'll share it with you on Wednesdays because your week won't have a hump in it if it keeps getting better! Here we go...
Mahatma Gandhi once said:
"Man becomes great exactly in the degree in which he works for the welfare of his fellow-men."
My takeaways:
Apply these lessons to your life TODAY!
How can you "work for the welfare of" others today? In your job? In your personal life? On your team?
Write down ONE thing that you can do TODAY that will be for the welfare of those around you and commit to doing it every day.
I want to give a BIG shoutout to the "Nick & Erik in the Monin' Podcast" for being my inspiration for Mid-Week Motivation! They do their thing dissecting quotes for their Motivational Mondays and bring lots of great content the rest of the week so check them out here!
I would love to get your thoughts, comments and feedback so don't Read & Run!! Stick around a little while.

"Man becomes great exactly in the degree in which he works for the welfare of his fellow-men."
My takeaways:
- The phrase "works for" implies intentionality (for a quick definition, click on it). Greatness does not happen by accident! If you want to become great and do great things you must commit to it, have that mindset at all times and act purposefully in everything you do.
- This quote refers to BUILDING SOMETHING GREATER THAN YOURSELF! And it also implies that it is the only way to "become great". The term that is often associated with this concept is fulfillment which is one of the sources of true happiness.
- I love this quote when applied to athletics! I translate it to say "A player becomes great to the degree in which he works for the welfare of his teammates." Take a second and think of some of the all-time greats in sports; Jordan, Gretzky, Pele, Jackie Robinson. They ALL worked for the welfare of their teammates!
