I am really excited about this Mid-Week Motivation quote. It is brought to us by George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950), a famous Irish playwright who is the only person to have been awarded a Nobel Prize and an Academy Award.
Let's dive right into it:
"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." – George Bernard Shaw
My takeaways:
1. Control - I love this quote because it is so empowering! What is so empowering is that it implies that WE have all the control. We have control over our lives. We control what we do and we have control over who we become.
2. Significance - Since we are constantly creating ourselves, everything we do matters! Our lives and our "selves" are like a recipe for a dish. What you get out is a byproduct of what you put in. You wouldn't use rotten ingredients when cooking up a meal so be mindful not to do it when you creating yourself. Deliberately use gratitude, positive self-talk, constant learning and surround yourself with positive, uplifting people to create the best version of yourself possible.
In summary, stop trying to find yourself! There is no other version of you out there that you will magically uncover some day. There is only who you are at this moment, right now, today. You should have a vision of who you want to become, but know the only way to get there, from where you currently are, is to deliberately create that version of yourself one action, one step and one day at a time.
